What We Do
Jet Wag helps rescues and shelters in heavily-burdened areas place at-risk adoptable dogs and cats with loving families.
Our mission is to move adoptable dogs and cats primarily from heavily-burdened areas to loving homes. We work with trusted partners throughout the country and around the world and facilitate vet care, transport, and adoptions to help homeless animals find homes. Jet Wag is also dedicated to supporting spay/neuter efforts and education in the communities we serve.
What We’ve Achieved
In 2021 we facilitated the adoption/rescue and transport of 241 animals (213 dogs and 28 cats). We have a small team of volunteers who work with rescues and shelters in high-risk areas in the American South/Southwest, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico. The team is responsible for communicating with partners, networking animals, screening potential adopters, and coordinating transport to get the animals to their new homes. Our team also takes a hands-on approach with adopters to ensure the success of our placements.
In addition to coordinating adoption and transports, the volunteers manage a team of fosters who provide temporary shelter for some of our animals as they await their forever homes.
We believe that strong partnerships are the key to making progress in the animal rescue arena. As we grow we will expand our network of partners and continue to focus on spay/neuter efforts as the ultimate means of addressing the overpopulation crisis.
Our Approach
We believe in a collaborative approach with fellow rescues as we collectively address the animal overpopulation crisis. We take on many animals ourselves and our volunteers also provide financial, admin, and hands-on support to partner rescues with limited volunteers. This includes helping with paperwork, social media, feeding, bathing, and preparing animals for transport, supply drives, completing grant applications, transport, fostering, and helping network animals for rescue. We also support spay-neuter efforts in the areas where we work.
We are a lean, volunteer-led organization that puts every dollar we receive to good use.
